Marco Polo is the Travel series of acoustic guitars and basses from Eko Guitars, inspired by the famous traveller. The idea of a guitar that is smaller and more comfortable but with a distinct and recognisable timbre is complemented by the careful choice of woods.
All models feature Mahogany neck and South American Roupanà fingerboard, while on top, sides and back we have these variants:
SO: top in solid Spruce, back and sides in solid Ovankol
MM: Solid Mahogany top, back and sides
SZ: top in Solid Spruce, back and sides in Solid Ziricote
SM: Solid Spruce top, back and sides in solid Mahogany
SB: Solid Spruce top, back and sides in solid Bocote
The series is composed of four Traveler (T) models, two Parlor (P) models and one Bass (B) model, which share the Flex Blend by Fishman amplification system: made up of piezo and an internal condenser microphone, this system allows every nuance of the guitar to be picked up thanks to the possibility of gradually adding the signal picked up by the microphone to the piezo signal, via a 'blend' potentiometer. Among the controls, in addition to the output volume and blend, there is a display tuner (activated by pressing the volume pot) and an EQ control that works in "mid-scooped" mode: held at minimum the signal is not equalised (flat), increasing it gradually reduces the mid frequencies in favour of the bass and treble, very convenient for obtaining a sound already "ready" for the mix. Should the guitar have feedback problems, a very common situation in acoustics, it is possible to invert the phase by pressing the EQ potentiometer.
With a 610 mm scale lenght, except for the Parlor models which have a 630 mm scale lenght, and a capo width of 43 mm, the Marco Polo models are practical, comfortable and ideal for the musician always on the move. The specially developed semi-hard case facilitates transportation and guarantees maximum protection when travelling.
